June is one of our favorite months here at Kitty Kasas because it’s all about adopting shelter cats! June is a time when kitten season is in full swing, meaning shelters, rescues, and fosters from all over are becoming filled with new kitties to take care of.

To spread awareness about the amazing perks of adopting a shelter cat this June, we decided to partner with One Of A Kind Pet Rescue, a non-profit organization located in Akron, Ohio to encourage more people to bring home a kitty of their own.  One Of A Kind Pet Rescue is an incredible shelter with dedicated staff and a fun, inviting environment that allows potential adopters the chance to socialize and play with most of their available animals. What’s better? They’re a no-kill, no-time-limit shelter, so each animal that comes to them will have a safe place to stay until they find their forever home.

One Of A Kind Pet Rescue has many adoptable cats with all sorts of different personalities. When you adopt a cat from them, you can be confident in knowing that your kitty will already be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, and tested for feline leukemia and FIV, and microchipped when you adopt from OOAKPR. As an added bonus this month, the first 5 people to adopt a cat (1 year and older) from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue in June, 2022 will receive a Kitty Kasas Standard Bedroom AND a Kitty Kasas bed in order to help make their new feline friend comfy and cozy as they adjust to their new home. In addition, Kitty Kasas and Sheer Fun For Cats have donated several products to help OOAKPR and the animals they care for. Multiple Kitty Kasas Duro units can be found in one of their many cat rooms to make cleaning and sanitizing easier and Sheer Fun Patient Privacy Screens, toys, and fancy felts to make intake and medical exams calmer for each kitty.

While available cats can change daily, here are a few of their current residents that we fell in love with!

Prince Charming from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue

Prince Charming

Prince Charming lives up to his name! He will charm your socks off from the first moment you meet him! This guy is getting up there in years, but he hasn't lost his pizazz. He has, however, lost all of his teeth!! Prince Charming will need to have wet food 3 times a day. We promise he won't complain about that! He is 10+ years old and weighs 7.46 lbs. Spicy Grey from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue

Spicy Grey

Spicy Grey came to OOAKPR with an injury on his paw and had to have a few of his toes amputated. He's healed up well and is ready for his very own home. Spicy Grey is a super playful cat. He chirps and rubs all over. He even gives little love bites. Spicy Grey is young and doesn't always know when he's playing too rough. It's important not to over-stimulate him. But we do want to find a family that will give him a good amount of playtime. Spicy Grey is around 3-4 years old and weighs 7 lbs. (via OOAKPR)

Lily from One Of A Kind Pet Rescue

Lily

Lily wasn't the easiest to get a photograph of. If you get anywhere near her, she just wants to cuddle! Lily is a beautiful tortie and she gave birth to 3 beautiful kittens. All her kittens have found homes, and now Lily is waiting for her chance at forever. Lily is 6-7 years old and weighs 8.82 lbs. (via OOAKPR)

Do Cats Need Enrichment?
Do Cats Need Enrichment?

Many domesticated cats live stress-free lives. If they’re indoor-only, then most of their days are probably spent sleeping by a window, knowing when and where their next meal will come from, and getting lots of pets and scratches (on their terms, of course).

However, cats benefit greatly from enrichment and they need it to live a happy, fulfilling life! We're diving into what enrichment looks like for cats and what things you can start to do now to make their lives more enriching.
